Locations

AWAY FROM THE ISLE OF SKYE & SCOTLAND

A favourite location for photography, besides our Isle of Skye, is yet another romantic island.  Blessed with over 45 miles of beach, a warm climate yet is still part of the British Isles is the Isle of Jersey.

As with Skye, there are a wealth of different styles of backdrop all within a small, accessible area - just 9 miles by 5!  Accommodation, car hire and creative artists are available locally.  How can a location be better for all types of Fashion, Beauty and Portrait work?  The Euphoria team is available to photograph on the Isle of Jersey.  Please, share details of your shoot-concept.

THE QUIRAING, ISLE OF SKYE

Undulating, diverse, powerfully atmospheric, wild, natural and typically Scottish is the Quiraing on North Skye.  Around a half-hour's drive from Portree brings you to this breath-taking location.

Accommodation is available nearby at the warm and welcoming Flodigarry Hotel, for an entire creative team, if required.  There is a car park at the Quiraing and most of the fantastic backdrops are within walking distance.  We can also recommend the quieter spots and the best time for fashion photography here.

LEWS CASTLE, STRONOWAY, ISLE OF LEWIS

Built in the mid-1800s, Lews Castle, Stornoway, located in the Western Isles, is the castle with everything - a sumptuous interior, luxury accommodation, dramatic architecture and rich gardens.  The Isle of Lewis has gorgeous white beaches with turquoise seas, the atmospheric Calanais Stones and warm-hearted, Gaelic-speaking natives.

The island can be reached by plane or ferry from Ullapool or via Harris from Uig, Skye.  This is the perfect place for a couture shoot and the larger creative team.

ARMADALE CASTLE, SOUTH SKYE

There are two routes to Armadale Castle, in the south of the Isle of Skye - via the Malaig to Armadale ferry or, more conventionally, over the Skye bridge.   It is around a five-hour drive from Glasgow or a two-and-a-half hour drive from Inverness Airport.  The castle is set in outstandingly beautiful gardens, with breath-taking sea views.  Even the ancient, twisting trees seem to echo the atmosphere of the castle!  Parking and accomodation are available nearby, making this location perfect for any-sezed shoot and creative team

As you can see, it is the perfect Gothic fantasy location, though, there are boundless inspirations for all kinds of fashion photography and films.  Can you imagine your own designs showcased here?

NEIST POINT, ISLE OF SKYE

Always wild and dramatic, Neist Point is one of the best known and widely photographed areas on the Isle of Skye.  It gives the feeling that you have reached the end of the world - you can even see the curve of the earth in this image.

There is a large area of dedicated car parking nearby.  This spot is extremely popular with tourists.  So, we would definitely advise only visiting this breath-taking spot at certain times of the day for the best photography results.

DUNTULM CASTLE, NORTH SKYE

Duntulm Castle, perched on a cliff-side in the north of the Isle of Skye, is a rugged ruin with breathtaking sea views.  It is an area with an atmosphere of drama, romance and history, which can be utilised in the theme for a photo-shoot here.

There is some parking but currently, we would recommend only having a small creative team and limited number of models.  Northern Skye tends to be cooler than the rest of the island.  Weather conditions and time of day would be important considerations in this location.

FAIRY GLEN, ISLE OF SKYE

The irregular contours in the haunting topography of the Fairy Glen, located 16 miles north of Portree, Skye, compacts a wealth of unusual backdrops for photography, in just one location.

There is ample paid car parking nearby, although currently the access is by single-track road.  Because of the varied scenery within a small area, this spot would be perfect for photographing a multi-themed collection of designs.

SLIGACHAN, CENTRAL SKYE

Just about everyone visiting the Isle of Skye or travelling on to the Outer Isles, will pass Sligachan.  It is famous for its historic old bridge and the inn - the Sligachan Hotel.  The towering rugged mountains, rushing river and still reflective pools nearby provide wonderful backdrops for all kinds of photography and all types of fashion.

Accommodation is on the spot.  There is good car parking. This gorgeous scene is just a walk across the road from that car park.  It is an ideal area for a large creative team and, with good timing for quietness and lighting, it provides a natural, wild, remote Scottish atmosphere for your designs.

FAIRY POOLS, ISLE OF SKYE, FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION

This is the Fairy Pools area on the Isle of Skye.  It rates as one of the most visited destinations on Skye.  A range of unique waterfalls and coloured pools form rugged "steps" down the hillside.

Because of its popularity, to have a shoot with limited external figures requires good timing.  There is a fairly large, paying car park nearby.  To reach the lower pools, is a walk of around 20 minutes over, at times, rough terrain.  Therefore, this area would be more suited to a streamlined, single-themed shoot.  It would be perfect for showcasing Scottish, outdoor clothing.

INVERNESS CASTLE - HIGHLAND FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS' LOCATION

Inverness Castle should be on every Scottish designers' radar as a top outdoor location for fashion photography.  Inverness is the most central city in the Highlands.  Its turrets, towers and glowing stone offers inspiration for any fashion-style but, of course, especially Scottish highland designs with tartans, plaids and tweeds.

Parking is available nearby, at Castle St. Town House Car Park for your creative team.  Accommodation is available within easy walking distance.  Inverness is around 3 hours' drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh but around two-and-a-half hours from Aberdeen.

BEAUTIFUL SCOTTISH LANDSCAPES FOR FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

We have featured a number of different, potential fashion photography locations, specifically.  Many of the more well-known spots can become quite busy in peak-times.  However, outwith the famous landmarks, there are a wealth of less-know yet beautiful Scottish locations.  These can allow your team to work undisturbed, have an original backdrop for your original designs and, often, are quite easily accessed.

Whatever your design-style, we can find a matching, quieter location for you.  We would love to hear from you!

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS' OUTDOOR LOCATIONS - WINTER

Still sneaking across the border, into the Lake District, to highlight the beauty of outdoor, winter locations - so perfect for presenting outdoor, winter clothing!

The scenery of the Lakes is iconic and highly recognisable.  Winter is the ideal time for quietly utilising the more famous spots and, with good planning, this season and location is wonderful for uniquely spotlighting your designs.  (Please check the news item below for more details on this!)

ULLSWATER, LAKE DISTRICT - FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER'S LOCATION

The Lake District, slipping just a little south from Dumfries and Galloway, is an inspiring location for fashion photography.  As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.K., we would recommend off-peak times for any fashion photography.  This image was shot in December with sharp and constrasty photographic conditions.

Winter fashions would look wonderful with the Lakes' backdrops.  As the days are shorter, it would be better to be ready to shoot earlier in the day and be well organised for models' comfort in the colder conditions.  Parking may be limited in some areas of the Lake District - forward planning can allow for this.

AN AWESOME LOCATION FOR FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Do you want to unveil your new collection of fashion designs in a mesmerising, eye-catching location?  Would you like to reveal your creations in a compelling and arresting way?  Whether your designs are ultra-modern or classically elegant, their beauty will be accentuated within this area.  This backdrop would be perfect for any designer whose brand name begins with "S."

Evening light is warm and strong - so flattering for models' skin tones and perfect for highlighting both the details of your gowns, as well as the geometric lines of the mound.  It is an especially ideal spot for aerial filming, which is Euphoria's Sean's particular skill.

Travel from Glasgow takes around an hour, from Carlisle, slightly longer and from Edinburgh, an hour and forty-five minutes.  There is adequate parking, nearby, for your creative team.

DUNVEGAN CASTLE, SKYE

Dunvegan Castle is the seat of the Clan Macleod.  This is Elena, sister of the Clan Chief, modelling her own wedding gown, when Euphoria photographed her family wedding at the castle.

The castle's gardens are famous and the interior is packed with ancient Scottish history.  If your shoot will include photography inside the Castle, this can be done after visiting hours.  In Summer months, there is light all around the castle well into the evening and sunsets here can be spectacular.

A Scottish-themed fashion style would look wonderful against the backdrop of this castle, from various different angles.  If the tide is in, there are also amazing reflections.  Within the grounds is a fair amount of parking for those involved in the shoot.

AIGAS HOUSE & GARDENS

The Euphoria Team has been fortunate enough to photograph at Aigas House, while being filmed themselves for BBC Alba.  There are beautiful gardens - suitable for photography throughout the year and a sumptuous interior with a magnificent staircase.

The creative team can be accommodated, on location, in lodges within the gardens and enjoy fine dining in the Baronial Hall.

The castle has a classical-feel, well suited to displaying elegant couture, vintage fashions and traditional bridal-wear.

EILEAN DONAN CASTLE - NEAR THE ISLE OF SKYE

To have your fashion designs photographed against the backdrop of Eilean Donan Castle guarantees immediate recognition - it is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland and has featured in a number of films and television series.

With its sturdy lines, the castle clings to a small, rocky island.  In the background, are the mountains of Skye.  There is a feeling of power and enduring stability associated with this location.  The reflections echo this further.

It would be an ideal spot for a more traditional-style shoot, portrayed with strong imagery.  Access is easy from two nearby car parks.  You can discuss the best time for your shoot with us, beforehand, as this is an extremely busy spot.  It is necessary to contact the castle regarding use of the castle interior, grounds or main car park.

THE TRANQUIL, WHITE BEACHES OF HARRIS

The endless, peaceful white sands, open expanses of ever-changing skies and the backdrop of Scottish mountains provide all the necessary elements for any Scottish-themed shoot but especially for Harris Tweed fashion photography, including accessories.

Any creative designer using the fabulous (and ever-growing selection of) Harris Tweeds has to have their work displayed here, in the home of Harris Tweed - even those working remotely.

The area is also perfect for any outdoor, country clothing shoot.

KILCHURN CASTLE

This romantic, historic castle is easily accessible, being less than two hours drive, north of Glasgow.  There is a parking area and a moderate walk to reach the castle.

The building is fairly large and has a number of different architectural features which can be incorporated into your photo shoot.

This castle is ideal for a highly dramatic shoot but also for tranquil reflectiveness.  Due to the walk required, it would be more suited to an uncomplicated theme

SCOTTISH BEACHES - ELGOL, ISLE OF SKYE

Scotland has over 6,000 miles of coastline on its mainland and an additional 900 islands!!!

That adds up to an enormous number of beaches to choose for commercial, fashion photo shoots.  Many are easily accessible, have adequate parking for the creative team and, at certain times of day and year, can be extremely quiet.

Beaches express the wild freedom of Scotland, adventure, escape and relaxed peace.  If these qualities would suit your business photography theme, we can advise which beach(es) would be most suitable.
