Mark and Elena's wedding was the first family wedding at Dunvegan Castle in a couple of decades.
Elena's brother, Hugh, is Clan Chief, so it was a real honour to be invited to capture this intimate wedding and to have Hugh recommend us to his sister!
Mark and Elena met through friends and soon realised they had a great deal in common. A few months later, they met up alone and never wanted to leave the other's side again.
To achieve the shot above, I flipped a mirror on its side and carefully arranged the wedding and engagement rings to maximise the reflection. Norma kindly lit the scene for me and the result is a funky ring shot.
We caught up with Mark and his best man outside the Castle.
Meg Gillies from Highland Council took another lovely ceremony.
We very rarely shoot weddings with any more than a handful of guests, so this was quite a special occasion for us to photograph Mark, Elena and their 55 guests.
We always ask for as much time as possible with our couple. The only way to guarantee romantic photographs is to give us time. Naturally, couples want to spend time with their guests - many of whom only get together for weddings - but even an hour's dedicated photography time will result in memorable, timeless photographs that future generations will love to see.
The main entrance into the Castle has the iconic, fabulous stairway - so we lost no time in positioning Mark and Elena on the stairs and creating fashionable and dramatic images.
Whist it seems like the couple in the foreground are accidental, I actually composed the shot this way on purpose. I love Elena's dramatic pose in the background, but the couple in the foreground are oblivious and lost in their own little world! There are so many stories being told in the one shot.
Of course, I made sure to get a shot of Elena posing all by herself!
Dunvegan Castle put on a selection of bites, nibbles and canapes for wedding guests - which look so cute in the photographs.
Mark and Elena, we had a wonderful time meeting you, your family and photographing in your amazing Castle! We wish you an amazing future together.
