They met at a boxing match - and sparks began to fly.
Rugged Scot, Allen, and beautiful Australian, Melissa, eloped to the Isle of Skye on August 8.
They put such thought into cute little details, like personalised ring boxes.
Melissa was utterly gorgeous.
Allen's cufflinks were also personalised, with his and Melissa's name and their wedding date! So cute.
Their wedding day was taking place on the annual Skye Games. Melissa had wanted a piper to be there, but gave up on this idea thinking all the pipers would be at the games.
Allen secretly arranged for, not just a piper, but a stunning vintage car to be there as a romantic surprise for Melissa!
We got to meet Dougie, the Piper on Parade, for the very first time.
We also worked with old friend, Neil Lynch, who took a lovely humanist celebrant. He asked Melissa and Allen separately what marriage meant to them, and their beautiful answers brought Norma to tears!
Melissa was slightly misty-eyed too!
The ceremony was held in the grounds of the gorgeous Flodigarry Hotel. To make the most of the light, I had to cram myself into a prickly bush and brave the wasps... But the resultant shot and the lensflare leading the eye into the couple make it worth it.
After the beautiful ceremony, we made our way to the Quiraing.
Melissa's beautiful cape complemented her lovely lacy gown.
I think this next shot is one of Norma's absolute best. The scene is so atmospheric - it feels like an Agatha Christie novel is about to begin!
Afterwards, we went back to Flodigarry Hotel - as the weather was really getting too wet to do anything else.
Flodigarry Hotel is one of our all-time favourite indoor locations. There's something totally unique about the decor - whether it's moss in the foyer, the incredible grand piano, the zany paper lampshades or the elegant archways... We always find ourselves doing something different each time we return.
I've wanted to do this last shot for a long time. I always had the vision in my head for the out-of-focus lights in the background and the couple themselves enjoying an intimate moment.
Allen and Melissa, thank you so much for an amazing time! We loved every second of your elopement - from the early emails sharing the plans, to being in on the surprise details, right until the very end when we said goodbye. We wish you a wonderful future together.
Thank you also to the amazing friends we worked with on this wedding.
