Part of me loves wedding trends.  Part of me hates them.

Weddings are supposed to be individual, aren't they?  So why bother keeping up with what's "popular" and "must-have" for this season?  Why can't you do things exactly how you want to do them?

So here are Euphoria's top 2019 wedding trends for couples who don't follow the crowd.  (They're not going where you want to go, anyway!)

  • Eloping.  According to this article in PureWow, eloping is fast becoming one of the top trends in the wedding world.  The article points out that the Google search for "elopements" hit all all-time peak last year and in Pinterest's report, the search for "elopement photography" is one of the top ten most searched for wedding terms.  Skye is getting a wonderful reputation as an elopement destination - and who wouldn't want to be married surrounded by mountains, oceans and wilderness?
  • Unplugged weddings.  An unplugged wedding is when the couple ask their wedding guests to put their phones and cameras away and watch the moments unfold before their eyes.  It's a sign of trust in their photographer and a message to their guests that they want to see their faces, not the back of their phones.  It's taking time to enjoy the moments and relax while the photographer does all the work.
  • Wedding jumpsuits.  We love this trend, which shows the bride looking elegant in a jumpsuit rather than a traditional dress.  This could come in handy, especially for brides who might elope to areas that require walking and greater flexibility.  Also, pockets.
  • First Looks.  We shot our first pre-ceremony reveal last year - and it's so romantic.  While many couples really want the traditional element of seeing their spouse for the first time at the ceremony, the First Look trend works very well for eloping couples.  The moments are magical - without any pressure to hold back tears, smiles and hugs because your friends might be watching.         Isle of Skye Wedding Elopement Photographer Photo
  • Spring weddings.  Already, we have had more enquiries and bookings for May than any other month.  There's something very magical about May - it's often pre-midgie season in Skye, as well - so this is a trend we can't wait to see more of in years to come.

Here's to a year of throwing caution to the wind, of grabbing your adventure with both hands and of making your very own wedding trend!
