Romantic Wedding Venues Isle of Skye
21 May 2013

If you have chosen to marry on the Isle of Skye, you already have a romantic and dramatic location! Thereafter, it can be extremely difficult to chose your romantic wedding venue on Skye because there are so many.

Here are five that we find particularly romantic:

Dunvegan Castle oozes history and is the seat of the Clan MacLeod. It attracts visitors from all over the world. The castle sits high and proud but also at the water’s edge. Couples can have their ceremony performed at a number of locations within the castle itself or in its attractive walled garden. For those who love the history and tradition of Scotland along with the fairytale-style, this is a perfect choice.

Clan Donald and Armadale Castle is another historic location. It was the land of the Clan Donald. The MacDonalds were the Lords of the Isles. Castle and Centre are set in a huge estate with exceptional gardens. Both are near the sea. Although only part of Armadale Castle has been restored, the attractive ruin (not an ancient ruin) has a gothic, romantic feel to it. This is also an ideal romantic location for the couple eloping to the Isle of Skye.

Eilean Donan Castle is on the mainland but close enough to Skye to be used as a venue. This is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland and has been the location for numerous films and T.V. series. The Isle of Skye forms the backdrop to the castle. A narrow bridge leads from the mainland across the water to the castle (a famous scene, with Joanna Lumley in the New Avengers, took place here!) Again, there are indoor and outdoor ceremony locations. The castle offers no catering facilities but there are numerous hotels nearby and on Skye to complete your day. This venue would be a good fit for the couple wanting a famous, outstanding location.

Solus a Chuain is a mobile venue - a luxury yacht which can be hired for your wedding. It offers a unique and entirely personalised location. The yacht comes crewed and is able to cater for 7 guests in addition to the bride and groom. This venue is a fantastic choice for the run-away couple who want something different, intimate and even adventurous!

Flodigary Country House Hotel is located in the magnificent and famous Quiraing area of north Skye. This hotel is interested in unusual locations for your wedding ceremony such as the Quiraing, Staffin Bay or even the Old Man of Storr! You can come up with your own! It was once the home of the well-known Scottish heroine, Flora MacDonald. This venue allows you to blend history, dramatic Isle of Skye scenery, highland hospitality and your own unique ideas in one.

We hope you have fun choosing the wedding venue on Skye which is right for you!
