Favourite Photograph from “Sligachan Wedding” Styled Shoot
01 August 2014

A styled shoot, with a theme, is rather like elopement or engagement photography because there is more time to work with the subject(s), get creative and explore new ideas or - as with this particular photograph, grab a good opportunity which comes your way.

As I mentioned in a previous blog, the evening light was especially warm and soft - perfect for flattering skin tones. Although we had to chase the light, at times, as it lowered behind trees, we had moved into the light for the above shot. We had been astounded to see a cat, on a lead, going for a walk with its owners and ‘brother’-dog. (Years ago I remember an aunt of mine would take her two, very large tom cats on holiday with her and they walked on leads to the amazement of visitors at the motorway service stations!) This cat was pretty big too and seemed well able to deal with any pushy dogs - although his owners were very careful with him.

We were delighted when they were willing to allow him to join the photo-shoot and pose for us. I like this photograph because it is just so unusual and original to have a gorgeous subject at the Old Bridge, Sligachan holding an equally gorgeous cat! I don’t know when this might ever happen again here. It was a wonderful opportunity to photograph something so different and I hope you will agree that both subjects do look fabulous!
