Is it possible or even practical to have a wedding on the Isle of Skye during winter months?

Yes, of course it is and a Winter Wedding has its own special, unique atmosphere.

To get married in winter, it is important to choose a location that is practical for you as a couple.  While some may enjoy a trek other couples might prefer to reach their chosen destination, gown intact, more easily.

Time of day is also an important factor as there are limited hours of good daylight.  But winter light can have a strange, soft effect which can be really flattering.

How much time is devoted to photography is also an important consideration.  With temperature like to be lower, it is vital to choose photographers who are skilled to work fast, thoroughly and creatively to ensure the entire experience is fun and comfortable for you.  You deserve to have a collection of gorgeous, “Wow!” images to commemorate the most important day of your life.  (The images which are precious today will become priceless tomorrow.)

It is a good idea to have layers for warmth.  A cloak or wrap, which can be featured in your photographs and removed quickly for more images, is a beautiful yet practical item.  Alternatively, any warm jacket which can be removed for photographs and then popped back on is also a sensible choice.

Another practical step is to make a back-up plan, should the weather turn very inclement.  A little surprise in weather can be a quirky, fun feature but, the Euphoria Team always monitor the weather for shoots and adjust, whenever possible, so that we can have the best of it for your day.  Also, around the island, we know of several hotels which are very kind, allowing us to photograph in their beautiful interiors (your ceremony excluded, and provided no other functions are being held at the time) - usually just in exchange for hot drinks!  Additionally, some couples arrange their for entire wedding to proceed at their accommodation as a Plan B.  So, even poor weather need not dampen your Winter Wedding!
